As Hospitality Action's Charity of the Year partner, BM Caterers is helping to raise awareness and vital funds to support hospitality people when they need it most. From taking on fundraising challenges to creating memorable moments for our Golden Friends, the team has already thrown its weight behind the partnership. We recently caught up with Managing Director Angus Brydon to discuss why BM Caterers chose Hospitality Action and why giving back is such an important part of the company's culture.
What led BM Caterers to choose Hospitality Action (HA) as your Charity of the Year?
We have always had two charities that we have supported each year and this year we chose HA. Our other charity is the recurring Little Troopers. HA stood out because of the meaningful and practical support that they offer for individuals across the hospitality industry and our sector. We are always looking at ways to support the team within BM and the fit with HA for 2026 seemed appropriate.
What are you hoping BM Caterers and your team will achieve through our partnership?
We are looking at supporting HA in raising awareness of their charity and the great work that they do. In addition, we will partake in some of the charity activities throughout the year, especially the upcoming Summer Cycle Challenge through the New Forest.
You recently hosted an afternoon tea for our Golden Friends - why do you think opportunities for connection across generations are so important?
Hospitality is fundamentally about bringing people together, and our Golden Friends afternoon tea was a wonderful reminder of the value of connection across generations. These moments provide a sense of belonging, combat isolation, and create shared experiences that benefit everyone involved. For our teams, it’s a chance to give back and gain perspective; for participants, it’s about feeling valued and connected. These experiences reinforce the human side of what we do every day.
BM Caterers is taking part in our Summer Cycle Challenge again - what inspired you to get involved?
Having done two of these before, we decided to do it this year with a team of 10. We offered it out to anyone in the business, so we have a collective mix of people and pledged to raise a minimum of £5k. As I write, we have raised over £4.5k, so well on the way. Some of the team have never cycled before and others are seasoned. It will be a fun day, bonding and raising some vital funds for the charity.
We're extremely grateful to Angus and everyone at BM Caterers for their enthusiasm and commitment to supporting Hospitality Action. We’re looking forward to seeing what the rest of the year brings and cheering on the team as they take on the Summer Cycle Challenge later this month!
